Changes to the Life Safety Code, Doors and Locking Hardware

When the 2012 edition of the Life Safety Code (LSC) is finally adopted by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the accreditation organizations (The Joint Commission, AOA/Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program and Det Norske Veritas) will follow suit.  Due to the multiple public comment periods that CMS is required to follow, it does not appear that the new edition of the code will be adopted until sometime in 2014.  One area of the code that will see some significant change is doors and the locking hardware on those doors.  Continue to entire article with link below.
